World Finals Drag Boat Race, Parker, AZ | Nov. 3-5, 2023

Nov 3rd:  I left Phoenix about noon to head to Parker to see Bill compete in the World Finals of Drag Boat Racing!  Bob and Cheryl also came in from the desert.

Before I even got there, Bill had done a near-perfect run and qualified at 6.502!!  (He’s in the 6.5 qualifying class… so 2/1000’s of a second over a perfect run!

Lisa and JR wee there too!  Bill and Dianne had stopped on the way to Parker and picked them up at Sky Harbor Thursday morning.  Ehren came in also.

The races were held at the Bluewater Resort and Casino, so that’s where we went for dinner!  Played a few slot machines and made my contribution to their light bill (!) and headed back to the hotel.

Bob, Cheryl and I stayed at Branson’s Motel which was also right on the water!

Nov.4th:  Bill ended up having to put a new engine in the boat after he found metal shavings in the filter!  Oops!  So, even though he didn’t have to run on Friday because of his first run having him already in 1st Place, he did a couple runs just to tune the new engine.

So much fun to watch him run!  We watched from the Cantina right on the water and the view of the course was awesome!

For dinner we went to Fox’x Floating Bar.  So much fun!  Right on the edge of the pier and so beautiful as the sun was setting!  Plus… you really can’t beat Nachos and a couple Vodka/Cranberries!

Nov. 5:  Bill didn’t do the buy run that he could have run as he didn’t want to stress th engine!  He was already having to do the final run on 6-cylinders instead of 8, but was hoping his main competitor would red-light and then he would automatically win!

He ended up taking 2nd Place in the P/E class!  I’m sooo proud of him!  Dianne, Lisa, JR and Ehren all work together like a well-oiled machine!  Love this family sooo much!  Headed back to Phoenix after breaking down the pit area and got home about 7:00 p.m.  Such a FUN weekend!
