Bob, Cheryl and I kayaked down the Salt River today. We had booked the earliest time we could in hopes of seeing wild horses in the river, but no such luck!
We got to Saguaro Lake Ranch at about 7:15 a.m. and they put us in the water about 7:40. It was a 2-hour kayaking trip, and the weather couldn’t have been better! It was so quiet and soooo relaxing on the river! You really didn’t have to do much work because the current carried us down. There were a few spots that they called ‘Class-1 Rapids’, but I think that might have been an exaggeration! Yes… you did have to paddle a little harder in some spots to keep yourself from ending up in the trees, but overall the ‘rapids’ were just FUN!
Bob was a little hesitant to go as he had never kayaked before, but I think he ended up having a great time too!
When we were done, we went to the Shiprock Restaurant at the Saguaro Lake Marina for lunch. It was perfect! We sat out on the patio overlooking the lake and had a great time!
