Barbs Dog Rescue

Donna and I took a ‘day trip’ to Mexico to pick up her puppy from Barb’s Dog Rescue.  She fell in love during our trip to Rocky Point in November 2021, and had to wait for the pup to get all her vaccinations and spay surgery before she could be adopted.

She is the lone survivor of three that came in together.  They were referred to as the “Marias” pups as they were left in was labeled “Marias”!   We never found out what the first pup died of, but found out that the second pup (a cream and white one) died of Hepatitis.  So sad!  But this little girl is the sweet survivor!

The rescue was started by Barb Mumaugh and her sister to rescue the abused, homeless, starving and abandoned dogs of Puerto Penasco.  They provide food, shelter, veterinary care and a place to call home for however long they need.  At any one time they usually have over 350 dogs and puppies that need homes!  They partner with several rescues in the US where they are able to transport some for a better chance of adoption.

We went to Wrecked on the Reef  for lunch before picking up the puppy and sat out by the water!  Really fun to be back there!  It almost took a crowbar to pry me away fom the water!  I’m going to have to plan a trip down there again soon to spend some more time by the water!  It’s my ‘happy place’!

‘Pepper’ is totally adorable!  She was so calm on the ride home and was so easy to travel with, but by the end she (and we!) were DONE with the car!  I somehow missed the turn off to Gila Bend on the way home and didn’t realize it until we were almost to Casa Grande!  Actually, we ended up in Stanfield!  Where the HECK is Stanfield???  It added about an extra hour to a trip that was long to begin with!  But soooo worth it!

Donna has a sweet new Best Friend and I’m so excited for her!  Probably not as excited as she is though!!  🙂
