Cottonwood | Jail Trail

Today Megan and I finally got a chance to play!  We first stopped at her property in Cottonwood and then went on to the Jail Trail, a 1.6-mile loop trail near Cottonwood.  It was a great, flat hike that lead to water that Sophie and Bently had a great time playing in!

The hike begins at the back of one of the biggest parking lots in bustling Old Town Cottonwood. It also boasts bucolic views of the Verde River. The trail gets its name from the nearby river-rock building that was constructed in 1929 to serve as Cottonwood’s jail and now houses an art gallery. It’s also part of Verde River Greenway State Natural Area, which was established in 1986 to preserve the Verde River.

Afterwards, we took a short walk thru Old Town Cottonwood lined with Coffee Shops, Antique Stores, and Wine Tasting Shops!

On the way home we stopped at a Winery and each had a Wine Flight as we sat on the patio overlooking the vineyards!  Really a fun day!
